It's time to face the fear and stop procrastinating

Since the new year began I've been sitting working on a blog post that just doesn't want to finish. It's been a massive block that doesn't seem to want to go away. 10 days. This year has already been going on for 10 days and I've posted nothing. I've felt guilty, I've felt lost, I've just been stuck.

Tonight I sat down to my computer and thought about what I've been doing for the first 10 days of the year and it's come down to one thing - I've immersed myself in music and have been reading like crazy. I've hidden myself from really figuring out what's been going on in my head.

I've been listening to music, I've been going to live gigs. It's really easy to get lost in the sounds and feelings. It's easy to pick up a book and read about somebody else's story.

I've been listening to Beyoncé, The Lumineers, Justin Timberlake, Jack's Mannequin, Solange, Vampire Weekend and Arctic Monkeys. Nothing new, just those sounds that are comfortable.

I feel l like I've been afraid for this year to start, hiding away in the familiar. There are so many challenges and changes that I am facing already this year that when the calendar turned to 2014 it really hit me, 2013, the year that I had so much fun and had so much success was OVER. I'm excited to face the new challenges that 2014 brings, but there is the fear of failing, the fear that it's not going to live up to last year.

I read this post from Gala and since then I've decided that I'm facing those fears head on. Seriously you guys, this is my mantra for 2014

The questions I've asked myself to help work around the fears and get excited by my goals are

1. What do you want to do?
2. How can you do it?
3. What will it look like when you do it?
4. What obstacles could you face and how can you overcome them?

I'll share the 5 goals I have for 2014 (it's the post I've been stuck on for 10 days) in a separate post. I'm almost finished working through the obstacles on each of my goals. I almost feel ready for 2014 - I don't want to waste anymore days.

Have you been struggling this year? What are you doing to get past that block and get yourself back on track?
