Shot at the Night

New music is alway a great thing. New music from The Killers is something I celebrate with every fibre of my being.

This morning when I logged into Facebook there was a post from The Killers with a link to their new music video. Excitedly I clicked on the link and was transported to Las Vegas and a short film about a girl who breaks her patterns and LIVES. It's a simple but beautiful video.

The song itself is taken off their upcoming Direct Hits "best of" album that is due for release the 8th of November in Australia. It's a compilation album of all of their biggest tracks plus 2 new songs. Shot at the Night is one of the new tracks. It's exactly what you want from The Killers - haunting vocals, upbeat tempo and a chorus that you can sing at the top of your lungs.

When I listen to this song I can see so clearly how it would be performed live. I can see Brandon marching around the stage stomping his feet in time with the beat while singing out to the crowd with all that he has. I can see Ronnie bashing and crashing on the drums. I can see Dave posing and whipping his hair around and I can see Mark quietly bouncing around. I can feel the crowd, pulsating and dancing, arms raised to the ceiling, singing along with smiles from ear to ear.

I've watched this video at least 5 times already today. The track is currently available for download from iTunes - I suggest you do yourself a favour and have a car party with this turned up as loud as you can handle.

Enjoy

Deathly Hallows

I had a day off from work today so I was home when these beautiful new leggings arrived from Black Milk Clothing. I love this brand. I love Harry Potter. I love these leggings. They are so pretty and I love that the only people who will realise that they are Harry Potter Deathly Hallows leggings are Harry Potter nerds (so people who I can relate to).

I find a lot of the time because I work on a rotating roster over 7 days that my days off are becoming more and more like lazy days. Today I made the decision to get out and drive.

I had a purpose and a destination in mind and I got in my car and drove. It was nice to turn my music up loud and just concentrate on the winding roads. The big trees towered over the road creating a canopy as I drove through little townships. It was easy to go out and get lost and forget about the rest of the world.

I live in a town that is not far from some beautiful areas and next time I take a drive I'll take my camera. The bush land in this region is simply stunning - especially on a quiet overcast (and occasionally rainy) day. Sometimes it's easy to forget that.

Today was a great day. A simple but great day.

A change

I figured with the new motivation to do something in this space I needed a new look. Not me personally but this space. I wanted something simple but customisable once I get more of an idea what direction I want to take. I purchased a simple template from Silent Daisy on etsy and I'm really happy with the overall look.

Right now I'm drafting ideas and trying to figure out what I'm going to post here. I can remember when I spent a year posting and updating a music related blog for a competition (which I noticed this week has disappeared - along with all my old posts). I LOVED having a theme and sharing my stories from my experiences at concerts and shows. I brought some of that over to this space after that competition closed but I feel like I went a bit off track.

One big lesson I have learnt over the past year and a half is that in order for success to happen in my life I need goals. I need to write them down so that I can hold myself accountable to achieving them.

I'm working out my goals for this space. Once I have them I'll share

Re-invention time

Sometimes inspiration strikes in the weirdest of places.

I was helping a friend book their holiday this week and he said to me "I used to really like reading your blog". Something so simple made me realise how much I have missed writing in this space for the past 14 months.

I can't say I was ever an expert at blogging. I have spent a bit of time this week reading back on some of my past posts and I can see an inconsistency that horrifies me. That being said I really want to get back to sharing my life, my stories, my life lessons and my loves in this space.

I have learnt so much over the past year and have been given the opportunity to grow through work, life, travelling, friends and family and if feels selfish to keep it all to myself.

I'm putting this blog on notice - changes are coming, and they are going to be for the better.

Last night I signed up for the Blogcademy in November in Melbourne and after logging into the forum for an hour this afternoon I have a burning desire to make something of this space. I'm not sure exactly what that "something" is right now, but I'm ready and excited to start this adventure again.
